Joshua Tree PreFab

Joshua Tree, CA

This ‘L’ shaped house is made up of two modules mitred together at the angle intersection. The 900 s.f. get-away-from-it-all weekend house sits in an expansive desert environment. The ‘L’ shape insures privacy from the street for the single story residence. Its large sliding glass doors look out to a deck and rectilinear pool. The house is slightly raised, providing views of the mountains to the east. The angled roof overhang provides protection from the sun. The house is clad in an exterior panel system with corner windows to capture specific views.

The main wing of the house is an open living-dining-cooking space with the diminutive kitchen at one end and the large fireplace at the opposite end. The other wing contains the entry, two bedrooms, the bathroom and laundry. Bamboo floors are used throughout the house. Small operable windows provide patches of light and cross ventilation.
